I WANT TO GET DOWN TO 168 TO WRESTLE SHUTE

Kind of a funny story before I do the update numbers:

I am the boogereyest person in the world!  I need to clear my nose like once every half mile.  So yes I have been known to shoot a snot rocket, or farmers wipe or two (or 20) during a run.

So last week on my long run day I was going to try and make 15 maybe 16 miles.  Well problem #1 my band aids (aka nipple guards) fell off.  Yes I have sensitive nips and the tee shirt rubbing against them makes them raw if I don't wear protection.

Problem #2, snot rocket dubbed Apollo 13 misfires.  I continue running, feels like my nose is running.  Nope it's blood - I am Louden Swain!!!

So I take of the white thermal tee shirt I'm wearing and use it to try and stop the nose bleed.  It's a gusher so the shirt looks pretty unnerving by the time I finally stop the nose bleed.  Under the thermal I am wearing a tee shirt that pretty much looks like Pennywise the clown (see below).

Oh, keep in mind I'm running through the forest preserves.  So you have a guy running through the woods wearing a scary ass clown shirt with a bloody thermal wrapped around his waist.  What would you be thinking?  Exactly, serial killer on the loose in Lyman Woods!!!

UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE


The main thing I have to point out is that last week Friday the 14th, I did my longest run ever.  I did 14 miles in about 2.5 hours.  My last personal best distance wise was a 13 miler about 8, 9 years ago (and about 25 lbs ago).

The Negatives:  After doing the 14 my knees were sore, my feet were sore and I felt super nauseous.  I could not even imagine running another 12 + miles.

The Positives:  After drinking a sugary soda (thanks Jonny for that God awful Liquid Skittles flavored Mountain Dew - BLAHCH!), some water, a banana, and a few saltines I felt ok.  Not great but ok.
  I then ate (like a horse), and then I walked the dog for a few blocks.  So all in all my recovery was pretty quick.

The following day I didn't do anything excercizey (?).  Walked the dog a few times covering several blocks, sore but not too bad.

The day after that I was sore but pretty much back to the same routine as planned.  So I guess where I stand right now is "frightenedly optimistic".

MARATHON TRAINING UPDATE

On Tuesday I set out to try to jog a 10 miler - nonstop.  Not only did I do the 10 miles, in honor of Spinal Tap I did one more ("this one goes to eleven").  My goal for a long run this week was only 8 miles so I'm well ahead of my schedule (which was way behind schedule - if that makes any sense?).


I felt like hell after that 11 miles but I recovered surprisingly fast and did 4 miles the following day, so I am feeling somewhat optimistic!!!
